Global Climate Initiative Launches at COP29: ‘Faces of Changes’ to Showcase 1,000 Personal Climate Action Stories
The Climate Action Center of Excellence (CACE), of the Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (GORD), today launched an ambitious global storytelling campaign at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan. The ‘Faces of Changes’ initiative aims to collect at least 1,000 60-second video testimonials from climate advocates across all 193 UN member states.
“This campaign bridges the gap between global challenges and individual actions,” said Dr. Yousef Alhorr, Founding Chairman of the Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (GORD). “We’re creating a mosaic of voices that together tell the story of humanity’s response to climate change.”
The campaign has already attracted high-profile supporters, including former New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark. “There’s so much we can do as individuals,” Clark shared in her video contribution. “One of my passions is reducing waste to landfills, ideally to zero. I’m committed to ensuring everything recyclable finds new life rather than ending up in landfill.”
Key Campaign Features:
- 1,000 video stories from around the world
- Maximum 60 seconds per video
- Representation from all UN member states
- Culmination events at Climate Week NYC 2025 and COP30 in Brazil
The year-long initiative will document personal climate actions ranging from waste reduction to renewable energy adoption, creating a global narrative of individual environmental stewardship.
